Application Process

Observation: Parents can schedule an observations day by calling the office.  Observations are recommended for the fall of the year previous to your child’s enrollment.

Orientation: All students are required to spend time 1:1 with one of our staff members for a brief evaluation. It takes place in Jan, Feb, & March either on a Sat., or on a school day after regular sessions. This is not academic testing. It is merely an opportunity for our staff to get a base-line on your child’s skills, i.e. language and conversational skills, ability to separate from the parent, gross and fine motor skills,  independence, ability to take direction from the teacher,  and to determine the child’s interest in the learning environment.

Application: The application is a two page form which can be accessed through the office, at a screening or on this web site.  The form should be accompanied by the required transcripts, registration fee of $100 and a letter from the parents.  Once the application is complete, the application will be reviewed.

Letter from the parents: We ask that all incoming registration forms be accompanied by a letter from the parents.  This letter to the staff/administrator, should state their reasons for choosing the Derry Montessori School.  It can include information about the child, his/her individual character and learning style, their needs and how you as a parent feel our learning environment will meet those needs.

Notification: You will be notified of the school’s decision by mail or by phone.

Registration Forms & Tuition Deposit:  Once the application process completed, & the application has been accepted, you will be given registration forms, and required to make a Tuition Deposit. The Tuition Deposit is 1/10th of the program fees for that year and are due at the time of acceptance. Forms are available at the screening, by calling the office and on this web site. All children are required to have emergency information updated and on file at all times, from the time of enrollment to the last day of their attendance at Derry Montessori.

Health Forms & Immunizations:  All children must have a current Health Form completed by their Physician, and dated within a year.  These forms must be signed & updated on an annual basis. All children must have an immunization record on file at the school, or a signed release form of religious exemption.

Allergies and special needs:  Our program is happy to consider the needs of your child with respect to allergies and dietary restrictions.  Each classroom will customize their snack program, to insure the safety of your child at all times.  This may include special training in handling your child’s needs.

Permission Forms:  General and specific forms are required for each field trip.

Information on Child:  Any medical information that might be relevant to the early developmental years of your child’s life should be included on the information sheet at registration.  **Special restrictions of any kind (medical, dietary, social), must be clearly indicated on the information page of your child’s registration form.
