Daily Schedule

8:30  Arrival: Can include a short outdoor play time, in good weather

8:45  Group Time: lessons, singing, discussion, calendar, weather, leader or special presentations

9:00  Work Cycle: This is where the children choose activities in the classroom and go from one activity to another. Based on interest.  This is also the time where the directress will do individual and small group presentations with the children.  At this time the students are given the opportunity to work alone or in groups.

For Both AM and PM Sessions:

* Music: Children enjoy the fun and excitement of working with our music specialist.  Music is a fun way for children to reinforce the content and skills which they learn in the classroom.  Areas of focus include rhythm, movement, learning about composers and learning about the structure of an orchestra.

* French Program: The children also enjoy the regular visits of Caillou the puppet, learning much about the family, school and life.  Our integrated French curriculum is delivered with the intention of learning a second language.  This  is a wonderful extension to cultural arts curriculum, peace education and community building work.

* Storytelling: Another area of enrichment is an occaisional special program on environmental education via storytelling.  Adding this interpretive and spontaneous art form to the repertory of school experiences adds to the fun and the ingenuity of the classroom experience. The children always enjoy and look forward to special visits from our environemntal specialists or  storytelling.

* Group Lessons: The teacher will take a group of students who are ready for a particular presentation and give them a group lesson. This provides the students with opportunities for refining their social skills, their patience, and their ability to cooperate with one another.

* Field Trips: Usually the students have an opportunity to go on field trips that support the studies of the month.

10:50  Clean up: The children work together in restoring order to their learning environment by sharing jobs, and taking responsibility for returning their work in an orderly fashion.

11:00  Outdoor play: Our students enjoy the development of gross and fine motor skills in the outdoor playground on a daily basis.

11:15 - 11:25  Dismissal for half day students.

11:30  Lunch Program for Extended Day Students: Our Lunch Bunch enjoys the down time to refresh and socialize with one another about all the important events in their lives.

12:15  Extended Day Pre-K: We implemented the program to accommodate families who have older children in the program facilitating common drop off and pick up times.  This program is also extended as a convenience to working families.  The program is an excellent extension for younger children giving them an opportunity for a second work cycle, and to further develop their social skills.

12:15  Pre-K Afternoon Program: This program is similar to our morning Pre-K class with some modifications to accommodate the learning experience for both the full day and half day students.

12:15  Kindergarten Program or Extended Day Kindergarten:  K Students are given the opportunity for a half day or a full day program.  Half Day students arrive at 12:15 and leave at 3:00 PM.  Full day students enjoy the extension to the first part of their day.  It gives them an additional work cycle, and is a great preparation for them in getting used to the length of a full elementary school day. This class does field trips as well. This is a very popular program with our students.  This program was developed as a bridge program for students who have had the 3 hour program for 2 years, and are preparing themselves for elementary programs the following year.

12:30 Modified Group Time: lessons, singing, discussion and special presentations.
